The only problem was I wasnвЂ™t exactly sure where to start or how to restore any of this. I'm mostly wondering what to do about the handle situation- the end caps are metal (with a nice floral pattern) and fixed in place with studs and I'm worried about totally destroying them if I try to take them off to replace the leather straps.Nonetheless it was a really cool piece that I couldnвЂ™t wait to get my hands on. I did look at some articles for fixing up old steamer trunks, but a most of the advice given was 'rip out all the old canvas and totally sand down the wood,' and I'm trying to limit being that invasive. How would I do something like fix the handles? It's a pretty cool trunk, even has little wheels on the bottom. I'm probably not going to sell this, so I'm not super interested in keeping its monetary value intact, but i'm mostly looking to keep most of the original look and not paint it green or whatever. The inside is missing a hinge on the left and there's just been a lot of damage to the fabric liner and the cool artwork inside the lid.
